I offer young people a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where they can feel listened to and understood. Every young person is a unique individual, so I spend time getting to know them and how they are personally experiencing the difficulties in their lives. I work with them to explore and make sense of what is troubling them and how they are feeling which helps them manage the challenges they are facing. We may also explore different solutions and strategies so your young person can find ways which work for them in order to support themselves. Young people are usually happy to talk during their sessions; however they may also choose to engage with creative activities which offers a non-verbal way for expression and exploration.
It is really important that your young person wants to have counselling and feels comfortable with me. The first session is an opportunity for us to meet to see if I am the right therapist for them before committing to regular sessions. Counselling is more effective when it is weekly; however, if this is difficult for you then please let me know. I offer open-ended counselling, which means I will work with your young person for as long as they need and which we will regularly review together.
